22 June 2011 - ICPAT in cooperation with the Center on Global Counterterrorism Cooperation (CGCC) conducted a 3 day training seminar on Open Source Analysis and Information Sharing in Counterterrorism on 14-16 June 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

Participants were drawn from the Member States of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda in which selected intelligence officers and criminal analysts.  This seminar was the second in a series of meetings designed to strengthen a regional counterterrorism law enforcement network in the IGAD region.

The training was aimed to expose the participants to a range of analytical, technological and organizational tools to strengthen their effectiveness in countering threats posed by terrorism.

The Training sessions were facilitated by experts from the John Taylor International Partnership (JTiP) as well as Integrity Research and Consulting.  A number of small group exercises and an extensive discussion on information-sharing in the East African context were held and the seminar was concluded with a brainstorming session on the development of concrete mechanisms for cross-border open source analysis and information sharing in the sub-region.
