Transitional Government Calls for WFP to Continue Operations
Somalia — The Transitional Federal Government of Somalia on Sunday called for the World Food Programme (WFP) to continue its operations in Somalia, just hours after Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen issued press released suspending whole activities if the agency in southern Somalia.
Sheikh Yusuf Mohammed Siad (Inda Adde), the state minister of the Somali government for defense affairs held press conference in Mogadishu saying that the food aid providing that agency was very important for the Somali people calling for the WFP to operate in the areas under the control of the government.
On the other hand, He talked about the overall situation of the Somali capital Mogadishu pointing out that his government started military movements to confiscate whole the country.
The minister also called for the administrations of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland and Somaliland to strengthen the security of their regions saying that there had been violence there recently.
The statement of the Somali government comes as Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen officially announced that it had banned the activities of WFP in southern Somalia.(From allafrica.com -click here to go to the source)
