May 20, 2009 - The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of IGAD member states meeting at an extraordinary session focused on Somalia today issued a Communique reflecting the results of its deliberations (check "Conference and Meeting Documents" on this website). ICPAT delivered to the Ministers the Piracy Report on the Impact of Piracy on the IGAD region. In the communique it is stated that the Council "takes note of the report by the IGAD Capacity Building Program against Terrorism to fight piracyalong the territorial waters of Somalia and directs the Secretariat to submit it as an agenda item of the 33rd Ordinary Council for further discussion." The meeting is due to be held in Djibouti next month. (ICPAT Information).
